THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS
REFUGEES
They have no need of our help
So do not tell me
These haggard faces could belong to you or me
Should life have dealt a different hand
We need to see them for who they really are
Chancers and scroungers
Layabouts and loungers
With bombs up their sleeves
Cut-throats and thieves
They are not
Welcome here
We should make them
Go back to where they came from
They cannot
Share our food
Share our homes
Share our countries
Instead let us
Build a wall to keep them out
It is not okay to say
These are people just like us
A place should only belong to those who are born here
Do not be so stupid to think that
The world can be looked at another way
(NOW READ FROM BOTTOM TO TOP)
Deuteronomy 10: 17 - 19
"For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt"
We know You, Heavenly Father, as a loving God. We thank you for Your love for all people. We pray that we will learn more and more to share that love with others.
We pray for Your help in guiding our thoughts and actions as we prepare for making the application for a family to come and live in Ashtead. Help us to have the wisdom and discernment we need.
We pray for the refugees still in Syria. We pray for peace in that country so that the people who live there can remain in the place they call home.
We ask these things in and through the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Amen.
